There’s been a recent buzz about Apple possibly releasing an Augmented Reality Headset and glasses. Early rumors pointed towards a 2020 release date, however, according to The Information, an Apple insider who was at their October planning meeting has stated that the Headset most likely won’t arrive until 2022. The Glasses-type headset is slated for 2023.

The full-sized “Oculus Quest-type” headset will come equipped with cameras on the outside so that users can interact with digital objects and high-resolution eyepieces. Not much is known about the Glasses yet. Early indications are that the prototypes look like sunglasses with thick frames.

Many feel that AR headsets are the future successors of our cell phones. For this to happen the technology faces many challenges. Google’s attempt at making AR glasses failed, however, Apple may have learned a thing or two from Google’s missteps. If Apple is successful, it’s possible that Augmented Reality Headsets/Glasses may not only replace your cell phone but at some point, they may even become suitable replacements for your mouse and keyboard as the defacto computer interface.
